Phytolab
The Phytolab is the heart of the Julius Laboratory and houses various light microscope systems dedicated to imaging and view specific types of microalgae in an array of growth environments. The laboratory also houses an extensive taxonomic literature collection and desk space for the laboratories student student staff.
Algal Biomass Production
A multi roomed laboratory facility dedicated to the mass production of algal biomass. The laboratory houses six 1,000L algal photo bioreactors and a 10,000L algal raceway pond. Biomass produced can be dewatered via a disc stacked centrifuge or electrochemical flocculation. Harvested material can be heat dried or freeze dried.

Anaerobic Digestion
Scheduled to open August, 2017. The anaerobic digestion facility will operate a SEAB Muckbuster system. The unit will process all campus foodwaste into methane for onsite power production. Byproducts of the digester system will be actively used for research and biomass production.

Molecular and Biochemical Characterization
Housed in St. Cloud State University's ISELF Building, this laboratory space is equipped for the extraction of caratenoids and oils from microalgal biomass. Additional equipment is well suited for the extraction and amplification of genomic material from algal strains.
